Keeping your Coffee Healthy

If you haven’t already, take a moment to read through the many Health Benefits of Coffee… and now that you’re convinced, let’s look at a few ways to keep your coffee extra healthy!

  • Avoid Sugar: at all costs, do not add sugar to your coffee!  Remember how coffee decreases the risk of type 2 diabetes?  Well not if you add sugar!  This includes table sugar, maple syrup, honey, and fancy coffee syrups.  Over time, you will become accustomed to the natural, unsweetened flavor of coffee, and you will come to enjoy it!
  • Switch to Plant Milk: the adult human body simply is not made to consume dairy products.  In fact, the majority of the adult population is lactose intolerant in one way or another.  The consumption of dairy causes inflammation in the body, making regular body functions less efficient.  So… if you still want that creamy flavor for your coffee, there are plenty of plant-based options: almond milk, coconut milk, soy milk, cashew milk, rice milk, hemp milk… and the list goes on!  Just make sure the milk is unsweetened.
  • Use organic coffee beans: switching to organic beans decreases the consumption of unnecessary toxins.  Less toxins = better health!  This one is a no-brainer.
